Had to share...
I wanted everyone to see the amazing picture that Drusilla Kehl painted for me. Once the other two are done I will post a pic of them in their frames.

New Years Resolutions!
SO I have been working on Litterattery's Resolutions for 2012. Drum roll please....
- Temperament, Health and Longevity first and for most
- Establishing an Ivory line...so there will be PEW for a bit
- Breeding the dilutes out of my line so that I have only agoutis
- Increase body size by 10%
- Add 2-3 double rex to my breeding line
I figure that should keep my busy for a bit. LOL!

Time for an update!
So things are finally returning to normal. YAY! My coworker has been out on vacation and after this week I will once again have a non-holiday, non-vacation week.
To keep everyone up on what is happening at the rattery, I have great news! Hatter and Miriam had their litter on January 28. There are 7 very healthy and happy little pups. Hooch's breeding did not take unfortunately but we will be trying again this month.
Also, Filch and Figg, my two Sprague Dawleys are working on their first litter. Hopefully in roughly 3 weeks I will have a nest of PEW. These guys are going to be the start of my Ivory line and help me to clean out some of the dilutes that I have in my rattery. They are very loving and calm considering their life started in a laboratory but I couldn't pass up the chance to have a line of rats that have been genetically sequenced. Yes I know, I am a science geek.
In the next couple of days I will post pics of the proud parents and the darling babies. I hope 2012 has been wonderful to everyone so far. <:8 )~~

Exciting Day!
Our membership to NARR has arrived! Now I just have to figure it out. LOL! Looks like it is about paperwork so I should be okay. Sometimes the electronic stuff needs a big learning curve. I'm going to print myself out a stack of forms and get to work this week. Can't wait to update the site with litter numbers and pedigrees. :)
On another note, Coraline has been spending the week with Hatter. This is hopefully encouraging her to have babies. We had to switch males because she really wasn't a fan of Wybie. So this litter could possibly have black, mink, beige, havana, RED mink. Keep your fingers crossed.

Adventures in Ratkeeping...Part Deux
The fleece is an amazing success. I tested two cages with the same number of females. I was planning on cleaning it at 7 days but life got away from me and it turned into 9. The fleece cage was significantly cleaner smelling. It was also amazingly easy to clean. The whole washing and scrubbing on the cage took less that 30 min. I didn't have to pick paper off! I also didn't have to spend all that time chasing litter around the house. AWESOMENESS!!! While the fleece was washing and the toys were dishwashing, I cleaned the cage, played with the girls and chatted on the phone. I did use borax instead of bleach. I was a little concerned about lingering odor. They came out smelling and looking amazing. I could bury my face in it and not smell a thing. I say there is a definite winner! :)
So here are some pictures of the girls in their new fuzzy cages. I am now testing which works better. Strips of fleece or squares of fleece. :)
AND on an even more exciting note, the girls on the fleece practically potty trained themselves with very little help or encouragement from me. I was planning for a big mess...which never happened. So now I'm excited to see what happens in the retirement cage with my older girls.

| This is the cage with squares of fleece. I cut 3 different sizes. It's got a Halloween candy theme. Spooooky! |
